Article Review Format

Hello there,

In search for a more effective way to work on the portfolio documents, it was suggested that we should integrate the reflection and summary papers. Therefore, here I post an article review format and a sample so that you can work on Stephen Krashen's article.

Article for Reflection

Hello everyone,

It seems there was some problem with the link. This is the article you will read:

http://www.languageimpact.com/articles/rw/krashenbk.htm

Write a reflection on it following the models provided in Met1.

PD: I found 2 additional pages you may want to check out.

The first focuses only on the theories of Krashen, but the highlight is that it has a short quiz.

http://www.educ.ualberta.ca/staff/olenka.bilash/best%20of%20bilash/krashen.html

If you feel specially adventurous, this is for you. The second page is the full version of the research developed by Krashen, "Principles and Practice in Second Language Acquisition." - This was the source for the article you will read.

Project (proyecto)

Hi everybody

this is the project:

P – Students will make a poster or powerpoint presentation of a famous person and include information: name, occupation, nationality, hometown, description of hometown, and favorites. Each St. will present the information orally.

http://www2.icpna.edu.pe/Alumnos_2_MI/Recursos.asp

Topics for argumentative essays

These are the topics I suggest for your formal essays. Take a clear position, and research about the topics trying to get information for both points of view.

Sex education should be increased in schools in an attempt to curb problems such as teenage pregnancy.

Animal experimentation should be permitted.

The death penalty should be mandatory for people that kill or rape other people.

Should we do more to deal with the problem of domestic violence, or is the problem exaggerated?

Does access to condoms prevent teen pregnancy? Or does it lead to irresponsible, dangerous, or bad behavior?

Do violent video games cause behavior problems?

Should creationism be taught in public schools?

Should the military be allowed to recruit at high schools?

Does age matter in relationships?

Should gay couples be able to marry?

Chart of Transition Signals (connectors)

This is the chart of transition signals I told you about. It has most of them on just one page. When you study with it, consider not only the function, but also their names (subordinators, coordinators, etc). It's possible that the chart will lose the horizontal format, and become vertical upon downloading, so make the changes you consider necessary once the file is in your computers.

Project Basic 9 Sabatino

English Version

Dear students

This is the project. Work together as a group, divide the work in sections and each member will take a section. EVERYBODY SHOULD PARTICIPATE EQUALLY IN THE WORK. Tell me about the mystery you have chosen through the chat box. The first group to choose a particular mystery will get it.

Ss work in groups to obtain information to prepare a powerpoint presentation on an unsolved or famous mystery. Ss need to present concrete points or data about the mystery like evidence, statements by witnesses, etc. Also, Ss need to present theories the investigators developed (speculation or possible explanations). Finally, Ss need to present personal conclusions from the members of the group. The Powerpoint presentations should contain visuals and texts. On presentation day, Ss will take turns explaining the different aspects of their mystery.

Thanks
